"Fountain Place In Bethel"
The P.T. Barnum Fountain in Bethel, CT. Topped by an 18-foot figure of a triton blowing a conch shell, the fountain contained a small pool composed of three large shells balanced on the tailfins of dolphins who spewed water from their open mouths. A drinking fountain stood just in front of the basin. Fountain Place was then bordered by hat factories. Photo courtesy of the Bethel Historical Society.
